WHY ISR?
Why ISR?
Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), with it’s Self-RescueTM program, is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. We recognize that parents need their children to feel comfortable in and around water.
At ISR, your child’s safety is our first priority. Each survival swim lesson is uniquely tailored to your child’s needs based on a comprehensive assessment and continual monitoring of your child’s health and skill attainment.
We understand that every child learns at his or her own pace, and accordingly your child will be gently guided through each skill level based on his or her level of development and readiness.
Why Infant Swim Rescue?
Going beyond traditional swimming instruction, ISR teaches children aquatic survival techniques designed to help them survive should they reach the water alone. For more than 45 years ISR’s proven, Self-RescueTM program has and continues to provide:
Safety: ISR’s number one priority for your child.
- Prior to beginning lessons, your child’s unique medical history is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to identify any potential health issues that may affect your child’s lessons and safety.
- Parent education: Your child is not the only one learning during lessons. ISR’s program includes comprehensive parent education on aquatic safety and drowning prevention.
Results:
- Each ISR Instructor safely and gently guides your child through the process of mastering his/her survival skills. The protocols and ongoing education your Instructor receives ensures that your child, at the end of lessons, will be able to successfully demonstrate the age appropriate survival sequence, including a roll-back-to-float and/or a swim-float-swim.
Qualified Instructors:
- Each certified ISR Instructor, completes a rigorous, 8-week in-water and academic training course and participates in a highly specialized annual recertification to maintain the highest level of safety and caliber of instruction.
Why is ISR Important?
ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) swim lessons are important because they provide a crucial life-saving skill to young children and their families. Water safety is essential for all children, but it is especially important for infants and toddlers who are at a high risk of drowning. ISR swim lessons are specifically designed to teach young children the skills they need to survive in the water, including how to roll onto their back and float to conserve energy until help arrives. These lessons are taught by certified instructors who are trained to provide personalized, one-on-one instruction to each child. By enrolling your child in ISR swim lessons, you can give them the gift of water safety and peace of mind for you and your family. These lessons can help your child grow up confident and capable in the water, and can provide a valuable life skill that can help keep them safe for a lifetime.
Instructor Training
When it comes to your child, you always look for the most qualified, caring instructors. Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is no different. Beyond sharing a dedication to safety of children, each ISR Instructor is highly trained and certified to teach ISR’s Self-Rescue method. All ISR Instructors are highly trained both academically and in the water. They are monitored and evaluated for their safety and efficiency and must complete stringent recertification requirements annually. Each Instructor completes an 8-week intensive training and certification program, which includes a minimum of 80 hours of supervised in-water training. The ISR Instructor training program also includes a challenging education component that focuses on subjects such as child psychology, physiology, and behavioral science. Once an Instructor is certified, they are required to complete annual reviews and re-certification to ensure that their skills and techniques continue to meet ISR’s high safety standards. Each ISR Instructor is carefully screened through extensive interviews before qualifying to earn certification. Each ISR Student Instructor studies with a Certified Master Instructor, who develops a unique training program that targets each Student Instructor’s learning and teaching styles.
